By the age of 18, an average teenager in the United States has seen an estimated 10,000 commercials; these youth innocently watch as their often favorite heroes glamorize and glorify drinking alcohol.
By the time students are in the eighth grade, 55 percent of students have at least tried alcoholic beverages.
Underage persons who reported binge drinking were 7 times more likely to report illicit drug use during the past month than underage persons who did not binge drink.
According to the most recent National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH), alcohol is the drug that is used most often by high school seniors; although they cannot legally purchase alcohol, over 90% of them have tried it and almost on third of them have reported that they have had more than five drinks at one time within the past month.
