  • In 1998, binge drinking was responsible for 15,935 road accidents that took place in the United States.
  • Driver's license suspension and license revocation seem to be the most effective deterrents among the general driving population; a recent government study concluded that the most effective means for reducing the rate recidivism for driving under the influence of alcohol (DWI, DUI) and crashes was a combination of license suspension and interventions such as education, counseling, and some follow-up.
